Gone Explorean in Mexico
Only a short ferry ride from the chaos and relentless party scene of Playa Del Carmen, you'll find the island of Cozumel off the Caribbean coast of Mexico
It waits patiently amongst some of the world's bluest and warmest water. A tropical island paradise, is the only way to describe it.
Downtown Cozumel was a little bigger than we expected, but as soon as you make your way out of town, hotels on the beachfront are the only things you will find. We chose The Explorean All Inclusive as it wasn't like your typical indulgent Quintana Roo hotel. It was incredibly comfortable but still provided us with the jungle experience we were seeking during our time in Quintana Roo.
The Explorean All Inclusive not only pampered us, but it included and actively promoted their adventures during our stay (apart from Scuba Diving - however they organised for us at a very cheap rate!).
Paddling an open top kayak through the perfectly clear waters was a surreal experience. Any time we got hot or the water looked too good to pass up, we simply jumped over board!
Sailing was something I hadn't had much experience in before and it was crazy how much speed we could generate in such a small boat with little wind. I know I keep coming back to it, but the water was unbelievable.....I loved letting my legs dangle in amazement from the side of the yacht.
The underwater world of Cozumel is full of life and colour, and sometimes little colour. The snorkeling location, El Cielo, is the lightest blue imaginable and filled with countless Sea Stars year round. A magical sight and a shallow snorkel for those not great at holding their breathe underwater.
Columbia reef was jam packed with a huge amount of sea life and huge coral structures that provided an incredibly unique opportunity to explore every tiny underwater cave looking for that special something we could share when we surfaced.
It is easy to get 'stuck' in an all-inclusive resort, but The Explorean actively pushes you to see the stunning and varied landscape of the entire island.
They organised a Jeep for us to head to the Punta Sur Eco Beach Park and around the island, I am super glad we did as we got to see more mindblowing beaches, search lagoons for crocodiles and climb the Punta Sur lighthouse for an unforgettable 360° view.
We spent 3 nights on this paradisiacal island and already cannot wait to return and learn more about the Mayan history and spend more time in this unforgettable island paradise.
